Equipment Required for Quiet Strength Fitness Programs
Many of the programs require access to a full gym. Some can be done at home with minimal equipment. Keep reading for the equipment requirements and my recommendations.
“Full Equipment” Programs
For the “full equipment” programs (e.g. Full Body Functional Muscle Building), you will need:
- a squat rack
- a bench and barbell with weight plates
- a range of kettlebells and dumbbells
- pull up bar
- one light-medium band
Needing this variety of equipment probably means you need access to a gym (unless you have a fully-stocked home gym – lucky!). If you are looking to purchase your own kettlebells, dumbbells, and bands, see the recommendations below.
Minimal Equipment Programs
For the minimal equipment programs (e.g. Minimal Equipment Full Body Functional Muscle Building), you will need:
- 1 lightweight kettlebell (5-10 lbs, 2-5 kg)
- 1 mediumweight kettlebell (15-25 lbs, 7-11 kg)
- 1 heavyweight kettlebell (25-50 lbs, 15-23 kg)
- 1 lightweight dumbbell (5-10 lbs, 2-5 kg)
- 1 mediumweight dumbbell (15-25 lbs, 7-11 kg)
- 1 heavyweight dumbbell (25-50 lbs, 15-23 kg)
The weights shown above are general guidance. For more specific recommendations, see the Equipment Required section in each course. You can preview the section without signing up for the course.

Kettlebell Recommendations
I recommend Yes4All. They are made of high quality durable cast iron that doesn’t fall apart from everyday use. The structure and texture of the handle feel comfortable when performing all kettlebell exercises. They have a variety of weights from which you can choose.
Dumbbell Recommendations
I recommend using NordicTrack Select-a-Weight dumbbells. The modular design means that you only have to purchase one pair of dumbbells for all the dumbbell exercises in this program. It also saves you space in your home. The 25-lb weights allow you to select between 2.5 and 25 pounds. The 55-lb weights allow you to select between 10 and 55 pounds.
Resistance Band Recommendations
I recommend Alllvocles resistance bands. You will receive a variety of weights at a price that won’t break the bank. They are also “stackable,” meaning you can use a combination of bands to create resistance in just about any weight combination you want, up to 200 lbs (91kg).
